Toys For Tots Collections Begin: Where To Donate In Fairfax Co.

FAIRFAX, VA — Fairfax County Fire and Rescue will be collecting toys for children in need as part of the region's annual Toys for Toys campaign. Collections start on Wednesday, Nov. 20 and continue until Friday, Dec. 13.

Toys for Tots has been an effort led by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve since 1947 to ensure children in need can feel the joy of unwrapping a toy on Christmas. The campaign draws participation from over 800 communities covering all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.

The fire department's effort is part of the Quantico Toys for Tots campaign. Last year, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue collected over 15,000 toys.

The fire department and other designated collection sites are open. Only new, unwrapped toys will be accepted. Toys used as weapons or considered to be weapons such as toy guns or knives will not be accepted. Checks or money orders for donations can be made payable to Toys for Tots. Toys will not be accepted after Dec. 13.
