VA Voter Registration Deadline Extended After Online Portal Issue
The deadline for Virginia residents to register to vote has been extended to 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15, according to Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring. Voter registration can be done through the Virginia Department of Elections online portal or at your local registrar's office.
VA Governor Credits Lack Of Spread Among Staff To Mask-Wearing
Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam was cleared to hold in-person meetings Monday after spending 18 days in isolation due to a positive test for the coronavirus that caused minor symptoms in the governor. Both Northam and his wife — Pamela Northam — tested positive for the coronavirus on Sept. 25, a day after a worker in the governor's mansion received a positive test after showing symptoms.

Vienna Girl Among First Female Eagle Scouts In U.S.
A Vienna girl is joining the first female Eagle Scouts, the highest rank of the Scouts BSA program after girls became eligible to achieve the Eagle Scout rank in October. Katie Hunter, a Vienna resident, is expected to be among the first female Eagle Scouts inaugurated in February 2021.
