Watch: Firefighters Respond To 2-Alarm Fire In Kingstowne
Monday's two-alarm fire displaced six residents, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.

KINGSTOWNE, VA — After firefighters responded to a two-alarm fire Monday in Kingstowne, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue released helmet cam video from the response.
The fire response occurred around 5:06 p.m. at a condo in the 6900 block of Mary Caroline Circle. Units encountered significant smoke and fire extending toward an adjacent building, leading to a second alarm being requested. There were no reports of injuries.
Three people were home at the time and tried to extinguish the fire. All residents then evacuated and called 911. Smoke alarms activated after the fire was discovered, but there was no common fire alarm or fire sprinkler system in the building.

Video released by the fire department came from the perspective of a firefighter arriving for search and rescue operations. Upon arrival, heavy smoke was visible from a distance, and fire was visible on one side of the building. The firefighter is seen retrieving equipment and heading into a smoke-filled area to determine if anyone is inside.

Investigators determined the cause of the fire was a juvenile using a lighter to light ordinary, light-weight combustibles in a bedroom. Damages totaled around $271,865.

Five people were displaced and have accepted Red Cross assistance. A resident of another unit was displaced due to hazards and damage. Red Cross is assisting that resident.
The Alexandria Fire Department and the Fort Belvoir Fire and Emergency Services assisted with the response.
