What's Open, Closed For Labor Day 2020 In Kingstowne
As the unofficial end of summer approaches, here are the service changes to know for the Labor Day holiday.

KINGSTOWNE, VA — Summer may have looked different this year because of the pandemic, but Labor Day is still the time to bid the season farewell before pools close and kids start classes. In Kingstowne, there are various closings and schedule changes to know for the holiday.
On Monday, Sept. 7, Fairfax County government offices will be closed to observe Labor Day. Students at Fairfax County Public Schools will begin the school year in a virtual format the next day, Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Below are the schedule changes to know for the Labor Day holiday around Kingstowne:

Fairfax County offices: Closed on Sept. 7.
Kingstowne Residential Owners Corporation offices: Closed on Sept. 7.

Courts: Circuit Court, General District Court, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court are closed on Sept. 7.
Fairfax County Public Schools: Sept. 7 is an observed holiday. The first day of school is Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Animal shelter: The Fairfax County Animal Shelter remains open by appointment only.
Community centers: Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS) community centers have been closed for all but the modified Youth Program, Camp Fairfax.
Fairfax Connector: Fairfax Connector bus service will operate on a Sunday schedule on Sept. 7. See www.fairfaxcounty.gov/connector for more information.
Kingstowne fitness centers: The KROC deferred the decision about reopening fitness centers to its Sept. 2 meeting.
Libraries: All Fairfax County Public Library locations are closed on Monday, Sept. 7.
Metrorail: Metrorail operates from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Labor Day.
Metrobus: Metrobus runs on a Sunday schedule on Labor Day. See bus schedules here.
Outdoor pools: Kingstowne pools have been closed for the season. Check individual swim clubs for holiday hours.
Parks: The Fairfax County Parks closed on Sept. 7 include Colvin Run Mill; Sully Historic Site; the nature centers at E.C. Lawrence, Hidden Oaks, Hidden Pond and Huntley Meadows; the visitor centers at Riverbend Park and Frying Pan Farm Park; and Green Spring Gardens Horticultural Center and Historic House.
Post offices: U.S. Postal Service offices are closed on Monday, Sept. 7.
Recreation centers: On Sept. 7, Fairfax County recreation centers are open for regular hours, except for George Washington RECenter, which will be closed.
Trash and recycling: Trash, recycling, yard waste and special collections happen on Labor Day for county collection customers. Check with private collectors for holiday service changes. The I-66 Transfer Station and I-95 Landfill Complex are open for regular hours on Labor Day.
Virginia Railway Express: VRE does not provide service on Labor Day.
