Lake Ridge Fire Leaves Four Homeless
A fire heavily damaged a Lake Ridge home early Thursday, says Prince William Fire Department.
LAKE RIDGE, VA — A fire overnight at a single-family house in Lake Ridge has left four adults homeless, according to the Prince William County Fire & Rescue Department. Firefighters responded shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday to the report of a fire in the 3000 block of Soffit Place, where they found flames and smoke pouring from the windows of the two-story home.
The crew quickly extinguished the fire, and there were no injuries, the fire department said. The Prince William Fire Marshal's Office determined that "improper discarded smoking materials" caused the fire.
Despite the late hour, smoke detectors alerted the home's occupants to the fire. The house was so heavily damaged that a county building official posted it as unsafe to occupy, the fire department said.
