Lightning Strike Sparks House Fire In Lake Ridge: Officials
A house fire caused by lightning strike in Lake Ridge heavily damaged the home and displaced two residents: Prince William Fire and Rescue.

WOODBRIDGE, VA—A house fire caused by lightning strike early Sunday night, June 2, in the Lake Ridge area heavily damaged the home and displaced two occupants, according to the Prince William Department of Fire and Rescue.
Shortly after 6 p.m., units arrived to the 11000 block of Cardinal Ridge Court and found "heavy fire" coming from the single-family home. The flames quickly were extinguished but already had caused considerable damage. Officials posted the home as unsafe to occupy.
The ordeal began when the residents "heard a loud boom," after which smoke detectors began sounding. Fire then was found in the garage. The Fire Marshal's Office determined a lightning strike as the fire's cause.
