Pedestrian Dies After Struck on Old Bridge Road: Police

The man was crossing the roadway outside of a crosswalk, according to Prince William County Police.

LAKE RIDGE, VA — A man died Sunday after he was struck by a car Saturday evening on Old Bridge Road, according to Prince William County Police.

The man was identified as John Harry Shannon, 70, of Ridgeway, South Carolina.

At 7 p.m. Saturday, investigators were called the crash scene in the area of Old Bridge Road and Springwood Drive in Woodbridge.

According to police, the driver of a 2002 Mazda Protege, identified as a 42-year-0ld Woodbridge woman, was traveling eastbound on Old Bridge Road. Her car struck Shannon, a pedestrian, as he was crossing the road.

Police note Shannon was crossing the roadway outside of the intersection or a designated crosswalk.

He was flown to an area hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries. Shannon's body will be transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
