Police: Unknown Driver Attempted to Strike Officer
Police say Jeep involved was rented and driver wasn't on the lease. Public's help sought in identifying suspect.

Investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying a motorist who attempted to hit an off-duty officer on assignment Saturday afternoon at the Occoquan Arts and Crafts Show.
The driver of a red Jeep Cherokee was spotted driving into an area blocked off by cones. Once the vehicle came to a stop, the police sergeant in full uniform went to make contact with the driver, according to Sgt. Jonathan Perok, a Prince WIlliam County Police spokesperson.
“As the police sergeant walked in front of the vehicle, the driver suddenly accelerated forward,” Perok said in a statement. “The police sergeant was able to avoid being struck or injured.”
