Two Rescued Sunday at Occoquan Reservoir: Media Report

Firefighters use ropes to reach injured individual on reservoir's slopes.

Two people were hospitalized Sunday after they were rescued at the Occoquan Reservoir in Lake Ridge, according to a media report.

One person fell down a steep hill at the end of Bertram Street that leads to the reservoir, and the other person was injured in trying to rescue the first person, WUSa-TV Channel 9 reported.

Rescuers from the Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton (OWL) Volunteer Fire Department used a rope system to lower themselves down to the first person, who was found 120 feet down the hill. They summoned a rescue boat, which went up the reservoir and took both accident victims back to the Lake Ridge Marina.
