Area Resident Tricked in 'Puppy Scam': LCSO

A Purcellville resident reportedly purchased a puppy online and then sent shipment charges before discovering it was a scam.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — A Purcellville resident was reportedly tricked in a "Puppy Scam" after believing they had purchased a puppy online, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office (LCSO).

Deputies say that the victim reported that they purchased a puppy via an online company on Sept. 26.

The company stated that they would be sending the puppy from Houston to Dulles Airport, but the victim needed to send a MoneyGram for the shipment charges.

The victim did so prior to learning that this was a scam, according to the LCSO.
