Bomb Rumor False at Tuscarora High School in Leesburg: Police

Rumors on social media stating that a harmful device was found at Tuscarora High School during a bomb threat are false, police say.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — False rumors are spreading on social media stating that a harmful package or device was discovered at Tuscarora High School during the bomb threat on Oct. 13, 2016, according to a Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) announcement.

Tuscarora High School in Leesburg was evacuated on Thursday morning after a bomb threat. All students were sent to Heritage High School while law enforcement assessed the situation.

School is back in session at Tuscarora today, Oct. 14.

“I have spoken with the on-scene incident commander and confirmed that there were zero devices located at Tuscarora High School. Any information being posted on social media to the contrary is false,” said Lt. Jeffrey A. Dubé, administrative services commander of the Leesburg Police Department.

“The Leesburg Police Department and canine units conducted an expansive search of the Tuscarora building and grounds; no device or harmful materials were found,” said LCPS Supervisor of Safety and Security Suzanne Devlin.
