Darryl “Big D” “Big Dezal” Lee McDowell passed away at the age of 30, early Thursday morning October 9, 2014, at his home in Leesburg, VA.

He was born January 8, 1984 in Newark, New Jersey. Darryl was a key player on the Stone Bridge varsity football team his 10th through 12th grade. He also was a head coach for the Titans in the AYFL Football League. He had been battling type II diabetes for many years.

Darryl and I got married on June 30, 2005 and had 9 wonderful years together. He was also a wonderful father to our two beautiful boys Isaiah age 10 and Elijah age 9.

Darryl went to sleep the night of Wednesday, October 8, 2014 and was peacefully called home by the Lord. He was always the life of the party and someone you always wanted to be around. In his time of life he had a huge impact on many people.

He is survived by his parents Donna Spencer and Darryl James; his wife Caroline McDowell and sons Isaiah and Elijah; his Grandmother Shirley Shields and Grandfather Bills Shields; his siblings Ishon McDowell, Nygel McDowell, Nysjah McDowell, and Jovan Hill; his four aunts, ten uncles, one niece, and three nephews, and a host of cousins. Darryl is also survived by his Father and Mother-in-law, two Sister-in-laws, and two Brother-in-laws. He also has many, many friends who will never forget him.

The memorial is on Wednesday October 15th 2014 at Leesburg Community Church at 835 Lee Ave SW Leesburg Va 20176. The public viewing is at 1pm, the funeral service will start at 2pm, and following the service we will go to Sterling Cemetery for the burial.
