Driver in Crash that Killed Baby Allegedly Deleted Voice Mail
The driver of a vehicle that struck and killed a baby in Leesburg allegedly deleted a voice mail on his cell phone before dialing 911.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Investigators say that the driver of the vehicle that struck and killed a 5-month-old boy might have deleted a voice mail on his cell phone before dialing 911 after the crash, NBC4 reported. The cell phone provider has been asked to provide investigators with the content of the message that they believe was deleted.
According to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office (LCSO), on Wednesday, Aug. 31 at 8:30 a.m., Mindy Schulz, a Leesburg woman, was pushing her son Tristan in a stroller. The two were crossing Riverside Parkway from Coton Manor Drive towards Kipheart Drive in a marked crosswalk when they were struck by a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The child was killed and the mother seriously injured by the crash.
A witness said the driver was looking at his cell phone prior to the crash, appearing to be reading or watching something on it. He was tailgating and appeared to speed up in order to drive in front of Mindy Schulz and her son as they were crossing the road, according to the witness, WJLA reported.
