Dulles Greenway Closures Announced For Run The Greenway Race

The westbound Dulles Greenway will be closed on Saturday, May 1 for the Run The Greenway race and other traffic delays are expected.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Parts of the Dulles Greenway will be shut down on Saturday, May 1 for the inaugural Run The Greenway race. The road will be closed from Route 28 to Route 772 near Ashburn Village Boulevard.

The roadway will remain open for eastbound travel, the race organizers said. The road closure will begin at 3 a.m. on Saturday and will continue until approximately 2 p.m.

  • The Route 28 North ramp on to the Dulles Greenway
  • Route 606, Old Ox Rd
  • Route 607, Loudoun County Parkway
  • Ramp G to 267 West from Eastbound Dulles International Airport Access Highway
    • Traffic exiting the airport that would normally use Ramp G will be redirected to Route 28 northbound.
  • Westbound traffic on the Dulles Toll Road must leave the road at exit 9A or 9B.

Organizers noted that drivers may experience more traffic at the intersection of Old Ox Road and Ariane Way. They also recommended that drivers use Waxpool Road or Route 28 to avoid the event.

More than 1,200 runners are expected to participate in the inaugural Run the Greenway race, according to the operators of the Dulles Greenway. The event will include 10 kilometer and 5 kilometer races, in addition to a fun run for kids.

Proceeds from the race will benefit charities based in Loudoun County. Participating charities include the Dulles South Food Pantry, the Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy, and the National Capital Area American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
