LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — For Christmas, some people buy fake trees or visit a local tree lot. But for others, going and picking out a tree has become a tradition. Loudoun County, a short drive from other parts of Northern Virginia, along with D.C. and suburban Maryland, is home to a large number of Christmas tree farms, many of which are open through Christmas Day.

Open Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 22 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or by special appointment. The farm has more than 1,500 beautiful Blue Spruce and Norway Spruce trees, so you will have no trouble finding the one you love. After you select your Christmas tree, be sure to visit the barn to warm up and enjoy some hot cider and cookies.
Country Loving Christmas Tree Farm, 40856 Red Hill Road, Leesburg

Open Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 15 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by special appointment after Dec. 15, Country Loving Christmas Farm is a family farm that has been in business since 1999 and offers a variety of other products to decorate your home.
Crooked Run Orchard, 37883 East Main Street, Purcellville
Open daily through Christmas for greenery and Saturday and Sunday for cut-your-own trees until Christmas, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Customers are invited to walk on the farm and pick out the perfect Colorado Blue Spruce to cut and take home.
Loudoun Nursery, 16457 Short Hill Road, Purcellville
Open weekends until Christmas from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m, the farm offers a good crop of Colorado Blue Spruce and Norway Spruce up to 10 to 12 feet, with Concolor, Canaan and Nikko Fir of the same height also available.
Milltown Creek Tree Farms, 38757 Householder Road, Lovettsville
Open Monday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. After getting your tree, pop into the Christmas Shop where you'll find handmade ornaments, tree stands and cider.
Snickers Gap Christmas Tree Farm, 34350 Williams Gap Road, Round Hill
Open Monday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Wolff family has been growing Fir and Spruce trees for more than 38 years. Not only do they provide a saw, plenty of rope and assistance, but they also offer complimentary hot cider.
