Ice Carving Competition This Weekend In Leesburg
The 5th annual Annual Winter Ice Fest and Mega Block Ice Carving Competition will be held this weekend in Leesburg.

LEESBURG, VA — Ice carving is one of those activities that, when watching it, it's hard to take your eyes off it. Using a variety of tools and saws, carvers literally are able to turn a mere block of ice into a meticulously crafted sculpture that often leaves folks shaking their heads in amazement. And if it's a competition, that's all the better.
Well, just such an event is scheduled to take place 9 a.m. Saturday around the Village at Leesburg, 1602 Village Market Boulevard, SE. It's the 5th annual Winter Ice Fest and Mega Block Ice Carving Competition. The free event boasts it will have "world renowned ice carvers" on hand.
The sculptures also will be part of the festival, which runs from 1-5 p.m. It'll include music, an iceless skating rink and various warming stations. Also present will be the Washington Capitals' Red Rockers and the hockey team's mascot, Slapshot.
