Indie Author Day at Rust Library Set for Oct. 8
4 local indie authors will provide their insights into the book publishing and marketing process at Indie Author Day in Leesburg.

LEESBURG, VA: -- The community is invited to Loudoun County’s Indie Author Day, part of the first nationwide celebration of independent writers, on Saturday, October 8, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Rust Library, located at 380 Old Waterford Rd., Leesburg.
Local authors and those who love to discover new books are invited to the celebration.
At 1 p.m., a panel discussion will feature four area authors:

- Ed Barks: Business and non-fiction writing: how authors can better promote their books. The former monthly “Speaking Sense” columnist for the Washington Business Journal, Barks is a frequent contributor to business publications.
- Ernest Solar: Storytelling and the writing process. A writer, storyteller, and explorer for his entire life, Solar is a professor of special education at Mount St. Mary’s University and lives in Lovettsville. He’s published two books, Two Moons Rising and Spirit of Sasquatch.
- Jennifer-NeToi Claiborne: “Being yourself” as an indie author. A native of Mississippi, Claiborne is a writer, educator, and digital entrepreneur. She teaches at a progressive independent school in Maryland, and writes for children’s, young adult, and literary magazines.
- Andrew M. Ryan: Begin with the End in Mind - Story Development for Fiction. Ryan is the author of two books, The Substance of Spacetime: Infinity, Nothingness, and the Nature of Matter and The Labbitt Halsey Protocol. A 20-year Leesburg resident, he works as a proposal management consultant to local government contractors.
At 2 p.m., a live webcast, moderated by Jon Fine, longtime Director of Author and Publisher Relations for Amazon, will feature national writers and publishers.
A local author showcase at 3 p.m. will feature what’s new among area writers as well as a demonstration of the Symington Press, Loudoun County Public Library’s book publishing machine.
