KKK Fliers Distributed In Leesburg, Sterling Draw Police Response
Leesburg Police and the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office are investigating the distribution of Ku Klux Klan fliers Saturday in the area.
LEESBURG, VA — Leesburg Police and the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office are investigating the distribution of Ku Klux Klan fliers Saturday in parts of Leesburg and Sterling.
Both agencies said there is no sign that the households that received the fliers were targeted, and asked the public for tips to find the perpetrators.
Leesburg Police are investigating several incidents involving propaganda fliers being distributed by reputed Ku Klux Klan members. On Saturday morning the Leesburg Police began receiving reports of suspicious fliers found outside of residences on the east side of town.

Investigators said the fliers appear to contain propaganda material and were most likely distributed due to the coming Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday and also the close proximity of the presidential inauguration on Wednesday.
"While all of these incidents are taken very seriously, at this time, the material appears to have been distributed randomly and was not specifically targeting any particular individuals," Leesburg authorities said in a news release.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office also received reports of KKK propaganda fliers found in the driveways of several homes along Hampshire Station Drive in Sterling, according to a news release. All of the fliers were in plastic bags and weighed down with birdseed and were similar to fliers distributed in the region in previous years.
The sheriff's office asks that anyone with information about these cases, or with possible surveillance video, call LCSO Detective Pickrell at 703-777-1021. You may also submit a tip through the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office app, which is available on the iTunes App Store and Google Play.
As they have with previous incidents involving similar fliers, Leesburg detectives will work with local, state, and federal partners to identify any potential threats to the community.
Police ask residents to report suspicious activity to the Leesburg Police Department any time via its non-emergency dispatch line at 703-771-4500 or at 9-1-1 for emergencies. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call the Leesburg Crime Line at 703-443-TIPS (8477).
