Leesburg Could Become 'Natsburg' This Weekend: Report

The Leesburg Town Council today will consider honoring the newly-crowned World Series champions by renaming the city for the weekend.

LEESBURG, VA — In a special work session this afternoon, Leesburg officials will consider officially changing the town's name to "Natsburg." The proclamation is a nod to the newly-crowned World Series champions, the Washington Nationals, and it would only be for the weekend, according to a report.

Leesburg Mayor Kelly Burk and Vice Mayor Fernando Martinez called for the meeting Thursday afternoon, according to the Loudoun Times-Mirror. The move is similar to when fellow Loudoun County town Lovettsville renamed itself Capitalsville during the NHL team's run to a Stanley Cup victory.

The council will meet at 4 p.m. at the council chambers, 25 W. Market St.
