Leesburg Dog Park To Close For Maintenance
The Olde Izaak Walton Dog Park will be closed Feb. 25-28 as the Town of Leesburg performs maintenance.
LEESBURG, VA — The Olde Izaak Walton Dog Park will be closed Feb. 25-28 as the Town of Leesburg performs maintenance at the popular park near the intersection of the Leesburg bypass and Route 15. The Leesburg Parks and Recreation Department, together with the Department of Public Works, will remove the existing wood chip mulch that covers the ground and replace it with a new layer.
The decomposition of the existing mulch at the dog park, located at 850 Davis Ct SE, causes the surfacing to become saturated after a period of time and can often lead to drainage problems. Applying new mulch will create a more stable, well-drained surface starting this spring, the town said.
The dog park is a fenced off-leash area located within Olde Izaak Walton Park. Water is available for dogs and benches are located inside and outside the fenced area. The dog park is open from dawn to dusk, seven days a week. The park also has a small dog area for dogs under 25 pounds.
