Leesburg Jersey Mike's Donate Sales To Special Olympics For A Day
Support the Special Olympics in Virginia by grabbing a meal from Jersey Mike's in the Leesburg area on Wednesday, March 31.
LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — The Loudoun County Jersey Mike's Subs stores are among 13 northern Virginia locations donating 100 percent of sales to the Special Olympics of Virginia.
The Special Olympics organize athletic competitions and training events for people with intellectual disabilities, according to their website. "This gives them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community," they say on their website.
The effort is part of the sandwich franchise chain's Month of Giving, which has raised $32 million for local charities since 2011. Jersey Mike's hopes to shatter its own record and raise more than $8 million this year, it said in a news release.

Restaurant owners pick the charities and identify organizations "that support local neighborhoods and build a stronger community," the company said.
