On April 27, 2021 shortly after 8:30 PM, Leesburg Police Dispatchers received a 911 call in which a commotion could be heard. LPD Dispatchers were able to determine that a subject had forced entry into a residence in the 500 block of Edwards Ferry Road NE and had grabbed an adult female in the residence. An adult male in the residence struck the suspect with a household object, at which time the suspect released the female and fled the residence on foot. Leesburg Patrol Officers responded to the area and located the suspect on foot, taking him into custody without further incident. The suspect was identified as 42 year old James Lacey III of Leesburg.

A subsequent investigation revealed that prior to entering the residence on Edwards Ferry Road NE, Lacey had forced entry into an unoccupied residence in the 100 block of Washington Street NE, leaving that residence in a state of disarray. Upon exiting that residence, Lacey fled on foot and proceeded to the residence on Edwards Ferry Road NE.
