Leesburg Restaurant Inspections: 6 Violations, Roaches At 1 Place

Here are the latest health inspections for restaurants in the Leesburg area, including one establishment that had live roaches.

LEESBURG, VA — Officials from the Loudoun County Health Department inspected several food storage and preparation businesses in Leesburg from Feb. 9-15. Of the inspected locations, four business had any violations.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, many inspections are being conducted virtually. So, the listed violations may not be an all-encompassing rundown of all the violations at a particular establishment.

Violations at restaurants typically focus on factors that can contribute to food contamination. The local health department also performs a re-inspection to ensure that possible violations have been corrected.

For every observed violation, the inspector provides a specific corrective action that can be completed to rectify the violation. Sometimes these are simple, and violations can be corrected during the course of the inspection.

In Leesburg, the Loudoun County Health Department noted violations at four restaurants during their inspections from Feb. 9-15.

    • Inspected: Feb. 12
    • Total observations and corrective actions: 2
    • Violations:
      • One covered pan of rice was observed cooling since the previous day with internal temp of 42 degrees Fahrenheit by side of pan.
      • The internal temperature of spinach 43, cooked chicken, and onion sauce while stored at prep cooler were stored above 41 degrees Fahrenheit.

    • Inspected: Feb. 10
    • Total observations and corrective actions: 1
    • Violations:
      • Shellfish tags were not dated when the last shell stock from the container was sold.
  • Kobe Japanese Steak House, 514 E. Market St Leesburg, VA 20176
    • Inspected: Feb. 10
    • Total observations and corrective actions: 2
    • Violations:
      • Cooked Rice and noodles in the walk-in cooler were not date marked.
      • A consumer advisory is not included on the paper menus that are exclusively being used during COVID-19.
  • T'Kila Mexican Kitchen and Bar, 19345 Promenade Dr Leesburg, VA 20176
    • Inspected: Feb. 9
    • Total observations and corrective actions: 6
    • Violations:
      • Live roaches were observed in dish machine area
      • Cartons of raw shell eggs were observed stored over tortillas in walk-in cooler.
      • The internal temperature of food located in the prep cooler were above 41 degrees Fahrenheit: the house pico was 55 degrees Fahrenheit, the diced tomatoes were 52 degrees Fahrenheit, the cabbage was 56 degrees Fahrenheit.
      • Cooked rice, cooked chicken, and diced tomatoes were observed in walk-in cooler without any date marking.
      • Several bottles were observed stored in ice bin used for drink ice at bar.
      • In use utensils were observed stored in a tub of water with a temperature of 89 degrees Fahrenheit.
