Leesburg Restaurant Inspections: 8 Violations At 1 Place

The Loudoun County Health Department found violations at several restaurants in Leesburg, including one that had eight violations.

LEESBURG, VA — Officials from the Loudoun County Health Department inspected multiple food storage and preparation businesses across the county from March 23 to March 29, including one location with eight violations.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, many inspections are being conducted virtually. So, the listed violations may not be an all-encompassing rundown of all the violations at a particular establishment.

Violations at restaurants typically focus on factors that can contribute to food contamination. The local health department also performs a re-inspection to ensure that possible violations have been corrected.

For every observed violation, the inspector provides a specific corrective action that can be completed to rectify the violation. Sometimes these are simple, and violations can be corrected during the course of the inspection.

  • Bodie's Bagels and Tacos, 1607 Village Market Blvd #120 Leesburg, VA 20175
    • Date inspected: March 25
    • Total violations and corrective actions: 2
    • Violations:
      • The hot water at the hand sink is not reaching the minimum temperature requirement. water is temping at 90F.
      • The hose connecting the drains from the hand sink and three compartment sink to the grey water tank is missing and the grey water is draining straight to the ground.
  • Delirium Cafe, 101 S. King St Leesburg, VA 20175
    • Date inspected: March 25
    • Total violations and corrective actions: 2
    • Violations:
      • Bar handsink does not have signage indicating employees need to wash hands.
      • Menu item: hamburgers does not have reminder (*) on the individual menu items for undercooked items.
  • Silk Restaurant & Banquet, 1500 Market Street East Leesburg, VA 20176
    • Date inspected: March 24
    • Total violations and corrective actions: 6
    • Violations:
      • Handwash sinks (x2) are missing handwash signs.
      • Food in cooler observed unservable to the public. Appears as if the herb has turned moldy.
      • Snow melt/chemical is stored on prep shelf above prep table,
      • No ambient thermometer is available in walkin cooler #1.
      • Grease trap was replaced and not re-installed with an air gap at the sanitizing sink compartment.
      • Plumbing under 3 basin sink was not installed correctly.
  • IHOP #496, 980 Edwards Ferry Rd Leesburg, VA 20175
    • Date inspected: March 26
    • Total violations and corrective actions: 4
    • Violations:
      • Cooked rice and cooked ham were observed cold holding at improper temperatures.
      • A container of RTE Turkey Bacon with a discard date of 3/19/21 was found in the reach-in cooler on the cooking line.
      • A container of ham & a container of diced tomatoes were found without any date markings.
      • Several stored food containers were observed with food debris on them.
  • Pollos Inti II, 544 Fort Evans Rd, NE Leesburg, VA 20176
    • Date inspected: March 29
    • Total violations and corrective actions: 8
    • Violations:
      • Multiple priority and priority foundation violations were found during the inspection with no manager or supervisor onsite.
      • Required handwashing signage is missing from the hand sinks by the three basin sink as well as the hand sink along the cooking line.
      • Whole raw fish observed being stored below whole raw chickens in the walk-in cooler.
      • The low-temperature dishwasher registered a 0PPM sanitizer.
      • During the inspection, EHS noticed that the walk-in cooler was not functioning properly. All food items within the walk-in cooler were observed/temped at between 58-61F while cold holding.
      • A container of spaghetti and several containers of various bean dishes were found with labels but no date marking.
      • Several spray bottles with cleaning liquids inside them did not have a label identifying the contents.
      • No test strips were available to test the concentration of the sanitizer for the low temp dishwasher or the three basin sink.
  • La Perla Restaurant, 119 Fort Evans Rd NE Leesburg, VA 20176
    • Date inspected: March 30
    • Total violations and corrective actions: 3
    • Violations:
      • Raw shell eggs were observed stored over cooked plantains in reach-in cooler.
      • Cooked rice was observed stored in reach inn cooler with an internal temperature of 48 F.
      • Staff are leaving some foods to sit on counter during lunch hour and are using time control but food items are not monitored for time of labeled.
