Leesburg Restaurant Inspections: McDonald's, Ana's Market, More

LEESBURG, VA — Local health officials recently inspected food preparation and storage at food establishments in Leesburg and western Loudoun County. During the period from Dec. 30, 2019 to Jan. 6, 2020, inspectors found a total of 16 violations at five restaurants and eateries in Leesburg and western Loudoun County.

During an inspection of Ana's Market in Leesburg, cleaning products were found stored improperly, according to the health inspector, with clean stock pans and above a food prep sink. At Melt Gourmet Cheeseburgers, a health inspector observed an ice machine with accumulation of black residues. The restaurant was instructed to clean the ice machine regularly.

At the King Street Oyster Bar in Middleburg, a health inspector found oysters being stored above ready-to-eat items. During the inspection, the person in charge at the restaurant made sure that raw animal foods were moved below ready-to-eat food.

"In our experience, it is unrealistic to expect that a complex, full-service food operation can routinely avoid any violations," according to Virginia Department of Health's website.
