Leesburg's Virginia Village Could See New Retail, Apartments
A local developer wants to transform the decades-old Leesburg shopping center to include a mix of retail, residential and office space.
LEESBURG, VA — A local developer is advancing plans to redevelop Leesburg's aging Virginia Village shopping center, according to reports. Ashburn-based Keane Enterprises is proposing to turn the 18-acre strip mall into mix of retail, residential and office space.
Virginia Village was purchased by Keane Enterprises in 2017, a sale that ended more than six decades of ownership by the Ours family.
In September, Keane submitted plans to the town of Leesburg which include potential big changes for Virginia Village, the Washington Business Journal reported. Plans for the space include up to 490 apartments, around 160 townhomes and condos, 105,000 square feet of office space, and 70,000 square feet of retail space.

The development — which reportedly will aim for cohesiveness with nearby downtown Leesburg — also calls for open space, including two different parks and an outdoor amphitheater.
Keane is led by local developer Brian Cullen, who's behind several big name projects in Leesburg and greater Loudoun for the past three decades, including Oaklawn in Leesburg; the Ashburn Ice House; and Willowsford in Aldie.
