Loudoun County Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Saturday, Sept. 27

Loudoun residents are encouraged to bring HHW from their homes to the Harmony Park and Ride.

The next Loudoun County Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) event for residents takes place this Saturday, Sept. 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Harmony Park and Ride, located at 39464 East Colonial Highway in Hamilton.

Loudoun County conducts several Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection events throughout the year to collect used and unwanted household hazardous materials such as gasoline and household chemicals. HHW items include (but are not limited to):

  • Fluorescent bulbs
  • Household batteries
  • Oil-based paints/stains/varnishes
  • Paint thinners
  • Metal polishes
  • Rust removers
  • Wood preservatives
  • Furniture polish
  • Waxes
  • Pesticides/insecticides/herbicides
  • Pool chemicals
  • Old fuels including gas/oil mixes

Businesses in Loudoun interested in disposing of hazardous waste can also visit www.loudoun.gov/bhwp to learn more about the Business Hazardous Waste Program (BHWP) and other private disposal options.

There will be a BHWP event Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, at the Loudoun County landfill from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Interested businesses that qualify for the program must pre-register by close of business Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014.
