Loudoun County Presents Proclamation to The Goddard School

Leesburg, VA – The Goddard School in Leesburg, Virginia celebrated “The Week of the Young Child (WYOC)” a national, annual event celebrating early learning, young children, their teachers, their families, and their communities. This year the 50th anniversary of the Week of the Young Child was celebrated from April 10-16.

During the event held at the Loudoun County Government Center, the Leesburg-District Supervisor Kristen Umstattd along with the entire Board of Supervisors, recognized the efforts of all the early childhood educators by signing proclamation honoring the Week of the Young Child and presented it to Akhil & Madhu Govil, owners of The Goddard School in Leesburg, VA as well their directors, Hasna Belayachi, Kavita Vantair & Marita Franks.

The proclamation further recognized, Mr. Akhil Govil, owner of The Goddard School in Leesburg and part of the Northern Virginia Association for the Education of Young Children (NVAEYC) organization, “to receive this proclamation and his support to childcare facilities that promote and inspire exceptional early childhood experiences for our youngest citizens.”

“We are so proud of our early childhood faculty for their diligence and commitment to our children and parents through these turbulent times. Their efforts have been nothing short of heroic” says Mr. Akhil Govil. “The dedication of our faculty reflects in the fact that we have been open all through the pandemic of last year while practicing safe and healthy protocols at The Goddard School in Leesburg.”

This proclamation presented an opportunity to honor early childhood educators, who have always done essential work, but whose necessity has been made even more clear during the past year. Early childhood educators not only work to build the brains of young children, but they are the backbone of our society and economy.
