Loudoun To Hold Free Rabies Vaccination Clinic For Dogs, Cats

Loudoun County Animal Services is holding a free rabies vaccination clinic for pets on Friday, July 17 at Philip A. Bolen Memorial Park.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Loudoun County Animal Services is holding a free rabies vaccination clinic for pets on Friday, July 17 at Philip A. Bolen Memorial Park. The clinic, which will take place in the parking lot near Field 12 at the park, will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The clinic is open only to Loudoun County residents. Dogs receiving vaccinations at the clinic will receive a complimentary one-year Loudoun County dog license.

LCAS said this will be its first completely free clinic. It was made possible through donations to its Animal Program Trust Fund.

At the drive-thru event, participants will be asked to remain in their vehicles. Face coverings and social distancing will be required. Participants should bring a piece of mail or their driver’s license with their current address on it.

“Even pets in a secure yard or on a leash can have an unexpected encounter with wildlife, leaving them potentially exposed or in mandatory quarantine if not vaccinated," LCAS Community Relations Manager Talia Czapski said Wednesday in a statement. "We want to be able to help people keep their pets, and their families, as safe as possible, during these already challenging times.”

All cats and dogs older than 12 weeks are welcome to attend. Cats should be brought in secure carriers and dogs should be on a 6-foot or shorter leash. Retractable leashes are not permitted at the event.

Previous vaccination records are required for pet owners wishing to receive a three-year vaccine. Only one-year dog licenses will be distributed at the clinic. Pet owners can purchase a two- or three-year license online after the event.

Drivers should enter Bolen Park on Crosstrail Boulevard from Sycolin Road. The address is 42405 Claudia Drive in Leesburg for residents using a navigation system to find the site.
