Loudoun Schools Superintendent Leaving For Houston Area Job
Loudoun School Superintendent Eric Williams was named the sole finalist for superintendent of a school district in the Houston area.
LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Loudoun County Public Schools Superintendent Eric Williams on Monday was named the sole finalist for superintendent of the Clear Creek Independent School District in Texas, putting Loudoun County on notice to begin a search for a new leader of its school system.
The Clear Creek Independent School District serves about 42,000 students in the Houston metropolitan area, while Loudoun County serves about 82,000 students. The school district made the announcement Monday afternoon.
In compliance with Texas law, the Clear Creek Independent School District's Board of Trustees must wait a minimum of 21 days to make Williams' appointment official. No start date for Williams in the Texas school system has been announced.

“Dr. Williams is a dedicated and passionate leader, and we will miss his service and advocacy for all students,” Loudoun County School Board Chair Brenda Sheridan said Monday in a statement. “He effectively promotes high quality teaching and learning while working to build an inclusive, safe learning environment with high expectations for all students. It has been my honor and privilege to serve on the Loudoun County School Board during Dr. Williams’ entire tenure as Superintendent.”
Once Williams' appointment is made official in Texas, the Loudoun County School Board will "carefully select the strongest possible candidate to serve as the next superintendent of Loudoun County Public Schools," the school system said.

“Parents can have confidence that the entire LCPS team that they know and trust with their children’s education will remain focused on providing equitable, caring and engaging learning experiences for our students,” Sheridan said.
Williams has more than 28 years in education, spanning from a social studies teacher in Virginia to a high school principal in Florida to superintendent of Loudoun schools. He received a bachelor’s degree in education from The College of William and Mary, a master’s degree in public policy from Harvard University and a doctoral degree in educational leadership from Boston University. He is married with two grown children.
