Motorist Alert: Road Closures in Leesburg, Sept. 6-9
Route 797 will be closed to through traffic between Route 770 and Route 651 on 9/6 - 9/9. Find out the detour information here.
LEESBURG, VA – Motorists should be aware that Mount Gilead Road (Route 797) will be closed to through traffic between Dunlop Mill Road (Route 770) and Hogback Mountain Road (Route 651) between 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 6 through Friday, September 9 for pipe replacement, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation (DOT).
Through traffic will be detoured via two routes:
- Dunlop Mill Road, Harmony Church Road (Route 704) and Loudoun Orchard Road (Route 662) back to Mount Gilead Road
- Hogback Mountain Road, Route 15, and Harmony Church Road back to Mount Gilead Road
Residents within the closure area, emergency responders and school buses will still have access to the closed portion of Mount Gilead Road; however, they will not be allowed to pass through any work site, according to VDOT.
