Northern Virginia Weather: Tears in Heaven

STERLING, VA — Choose, if you will, your favorite song with "rain" in the title, no matter the genre. That will pretty much sum up Thursday night and into Friday night, according to the area arm of the National Weather Service in Sterling.

Not until Saturday will the rain, for the most part, cease — although that's also when the wind will pick up a bit. No foolin.'

Sunday, on the other hand, looks dandy.

Here's the latest NWS forecast:

Tonight: A chance of showers between 8pm and 2am, then rain likely after 2am. Cloudy, with a low around 45. Southeast wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Friday: Rain before 2pm, then showers after 2pm. High near 62. East wind 9 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Friday Night: Showers, mainly before 8pm. Low around 47. West wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 61. Northwest wind 8 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 43. Northwest wind 3 to 8 mph.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 62.

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 44.

Monday: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 63. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
