Oatlands Historic House to Host Multiple Holiday Events
Christmas and candlelight tours, teas, caroling, wreath making, an art show--and more are among the holiday events to be held at Oatlands.
LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Multiple holiday events will be held in December 2016 at the Oatlands Historic House & Gardens. Located at 20850 Oatlands Plantation Lane in Leesburg, the National Trust Historic Site features a stately mansion, beautiful rolling farmland, and exquisite gardens. Oatlands Plantation was established in 1798 by George Carter, a great grandson of Robert "King" Carter. In 1804, Carter began construction of a Federal mansion, which was expanded in the 1820's and 1830's.

- Christmas at Oatlands, Dec. 1 - 30. Oatlands Mansion is open for regular guided tours through the end of December. Starting December 1, visit Oatlands to see the halls decked in fabulous holiday style. While you're here, find the perfect gift at the Historic Carriage House Shop, and don't forget to visit the formal terraced garden, beautiful in every season! On December 1, Oatlands will offer guided Mansion tours every 30 minutes on the hour and half-hour starting at 10:00 a.m. The last tour every day is at 4:00 p.m.
- Friends of Oatlands Annual Holiday Party, Dec. 4. A Holiday Open House at Oatlands for Friends of Oatlands Members! Click here for details.
- Candlelight Tours, Dec, 10 & 11; Dec, 17 & 18, 6-8 p.m. Visit after hours to see the mansion sparkling with Christmas lights and old-fashioned decorations. Candlelight tours are open-house style so you may enjoy at your own pace. Reservations not required. Final admission is at 8 p.m. $15 adults, $12 seniors & active duty military, $8 kids 6-16, FREE to children under age 6.
- Holiday Teas, Holiday teas are a tradition at Oatlands. Enjoy traditional afternoon tea in the Historic Carriage House, shop in the unique gift shop and view the Small Works Art Show on display. Add on a tour of the Mansion to see the house in all its Christmas glory! See the Afternoon Tea page for full schedule.
- Pickwick Players Christmas Carols, Friday, Dec. 16 - 7:00 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17 - 4:30 p.m. Tickets: $10 per adult; $5 per child Experience the delightful sound of the Pickwick Players as they perform a variety of Christmas Carols in the Charming Oatlands Carriage House. Enjoy hot cider and home-made baked goods!
- Wreath Making at Oatlands, Dec. 7, 9 & 12, 11:00 a.m. $35 per person. Join Oatlands Head Gardener Mark Schroeter as he leads a Wreath Making Workshop at Oatlands! Make a wreath for Oatlands and then make a wreath to take home with you! Space is limited to 12. Tickets are not refundable and advance reservations are required to 703-777-3174 or mschroeter@oatlands.org.
- Small Works Art Show & Sale, Nov. 30 - Dec. 30 at Oatlands Historic Carriage House. Monday - Saturday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. & Sunday: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. A special art show for the Holiday season! These original works of art are perfect for small wall spaces, bookshelves and desks and are great for gift giving! Click here for full rules and entry forms.
