Purcellville To Hold Independence Day Parade On July 4

Purcellville town leaders changed their minds and will be hosting the town's annual Independence Day Parade on July 4 starting at noon.

PURCELLVILE, VA — Purcellville town leaders changed their minds and will be hosting the town's annual Independence Day Parade on Saturday, July 4 from noon to 1 p.m. The parade will follow its traditional route, starting at Loudoun Valley High School and ending at Emerick Elementary School on Nursery Avenue.

Setup and assembly for the parade will begin at 11:15 a.m. at Loudoun Valley High School. The town has yet to announce any safety precautions that will be implemented for the parade due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The town said it has heard from a number of people who have agreed to participate in the parade. Applications to participate in the parade will be available to the public on Wednesday. Residents who would like to participate can have an application emailed to them by sending a request to events@purcellvilleva.gov.

In May, Purcellville announced that it had canceled its Independence Day parade in response to continued restrictions related to the coronavirus crisis.

"Excited to see the town council and mayor listen to the citizens!" a Purcellville resident commented on the town's Facebook page. "This is wonderful news, so excited the parade is on!!"
