Route 7 Nightly Closures Scheduled For Drainage Project: VDOT
Traffic on Route 7 will be limited on a nightly basis from Sunday, May 2 until Thursday, May 6 as VDOT works on a drainage project.

LEESBURG, VA — Route 7 will feature lane closures for a drainage project on a nightly basis from Sunday, May 2 until Wednesday, May 5. The closures will affect Route 7 between Cardinal Park Drive and River Creek Parkway, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
The construction is part of the ongoing Battlefield Parkway project. The lane closures will change depending on the day, and schedules may change if inclement weather arises, VDOT said.
- 8 p.m. Sunday, May 2 to 5 a.m. Monday, May 3
- Up to two eastbound Route 7 lanes (right and center lanes) closed.
- 8 p.m. Monday, May 3 to 5 a.m. Tuesday, May 4
- Up to two eastbound Route 7 lanes (left and center lanes) closed.
- 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 4 to 6 a.m. Wednesday, May 5
- Up to two westbound Route 7 lanes (right and center lanes) closed.
- 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 5 to 6 a.m. Thursday, May 6
- Up to two westbound Route 7 lanes (left and center lanes) closed.
The speed limit on Route 7 will be reduced to 45 miles per hour within the work zone. Drivers are asked to use caution and follow any posted signs or directions.

This week's construction work is part of the ongoing Route 7 at Battlefield Parkway Project. By the end of this year, the construction will add a new interchange, a modified intersection at Route 7 and Cardinal Park Drive, new auxiliary lanes on eastbound Route 7, and a new shared use path along Battlefield Parkway.
The Virginia Department of Transportation said they plan to complete the project in the fall of 2021.
