
Terrence A. Trepal (Terry), age 68, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, died September 22, 2014 in Leesburg, Virginia. He was born December 22, 1945 in Euclid, Ohio, to Mary Habjan Trepal and Anthony Trepal. He graduated from St. Joseph High School (1963) and received his Bachelor of Science degree from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio (1967). He received his Master’s degree (1969) in political science from State University of New York “SUNY” in Albany, New York. He later attended American University Washington College of Law in Washington, DC, where he received his Juris Doctor degree (1979).
Terry is survived by his wife, Joan Farinacci Trepal, his children, Julie West, Tony Trepal, and Nathan Trepal, his son-in-law, Scott West, and daughters-in-law, Shelley Trepal and Indhira Trepal, and his grandchildren, Matthew and Rachel West, Leah and Abby Trepal, Nayana Velez, and Avery and Giovanni Trepal. He is also survived by his brothers, Ladislas, Gilbert, and Norman Trepal and their wives, and nieces and nephews.
Terry worked as a teacher at Vincentian High School in Albany, New York from 1968-71, and then at Albany High School from 1971-73. Terry began his federal career at the Pentagon working for the Air Force from 1973-76, and then the Department of Defense for Dependent Schools “DODDS.” In 1979 he moved to Madrid, Spain for three and one-half years to work as Chief of Logistics for the Mediterranean Region for DODDS. He returned to the Pentagon in 1983 to work for the Finance Department, but soon after returned to Logistics for DODDS. He was a Legis Fellow in the House of Representatives for six months in 1991 where he worked for Congresswoman Susan Molinari. Terry was Deputy Director of the Supply Chain Integration Office of the Department of Defense from 1989-2003. He retired at the end of May 2003, after 30 years of federal service.

Terry then began his second career as a research analyst with the Institute for Defense Analyses “IDA.” He retired from IDA August 1, 2014.
Throughout his life, Terry enjoyed many activities. He skied, hiked, bicycled, played tennis, golf, and baseball. He especially loved to watch his grandchildren perform their sports activities and often hiked and bicycled with them on the Old Dominion Trail. He also enjoyed skiing with them at our vacation home in western Maryland. He was looking forward to enjoying retirement with his family. Unfortunately illness erased his dreams.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, September 28, 2014 between the hours of 3:00pm and 5:00pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd NE, Leesburg, VA 20176. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00am on Monday, September 29, 2014 at Saint John the Apostle Catholic Church, 55 Oakcrest Manor Drive, NE, Leesburg, Virginia 20176. Burial to follow in St. John Cemetery.
