Vandalize A Police Car At Child Safety Day In Leesburg

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is having Child Safety Day Aug. 12 in Leesburg, and kids will be encouraged to vandalize a police car.

LEESBURG, VA — OK, so the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is holding its sixth annual Child Safety Day noon-4 p.m. Aug. 12 at the Village at Leesburg, 1602 Village Market Boulevard. That's all well and fine and admirable. But deep in the press release is an item that might well make the event considerably more attractive to kids.

Namely, police will have a "lend a hand in fighting crime" event that encourages kids to dip their hands in washable paint and then put their hand prints on a designated patrol car. How cool is that? There also will be live entertainment, a moon bounce and games.

Many of the displays will provide information to parents on how they can protect their child from becoming a victim of a crime.
