Village at Leesburg Tree Lighting Event Set for Nov. 19

Leesburg's Mayor David Butler will help Santa and Mrs. Claus light the 5-story tree in the Village at Leesburg on Saturday, Nov. 19.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Leesburg's Mayor David Butler will help Santa and Mrs. Claus light the five-story tree in Northern Virginia on Saturday, November 19, at 5:30 pm., according to an announcement by the Village at Leesburg.

WHAT: Village at Leesburg is hosting its 7th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony featuring what is believed to be Northern Virginia’s largest animated tree. Village Market Blvd and the entire center will be transformed into a “Holiday Village” with holiday décor, carolers, and holiday characters like the Toy Soldier, Stilt walker and Santa’s Tallest Elf. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive by horse-drawn carriage before taking a seat near the foot of the tree and visiting with guests; parents just need to bring their own camera for pictures with Santa.

WHO: Leesburg Mayor David Butler will speak and the five members of the Illumination Team will lead a 10-second countdown before pressing the button and bringing the tree to life with 15,000 lights dancing to holiday favorites.

Performances on the main stage:

3:00 pm – 3:15 pm: Dance Academy of Loudoun holiday performance to “Winter Wonderland, Jingle Bell Rock” & a song from the new movie “Trolls”

3:20 pm – 3:30 pm: Chorus of the Old Dominion Quartet Singers –holiday tunes (will be strolling throughout the Village after their performance on the main stage)

3:35 pm – 4:00 pm: Cardinal Cloggers – holiday skit dances

4:30 pm – 5:30 pm: Martinsburg Jazz Ensemble playing holiday music/performance

WHAT ELSE:

  • Attendance has grown each year since the first tree lighting ceremony 7 years ago, last year's event attracted more than 3,000 visitors.
  • Activities are FREE and include: visits with Santa, horse-drawn carriage rides, caroling, holiday characters, candy canes, mulled cider, hot chocolate, coffee, cozy fire pits and more!
  • Visitors can register to win a Village shopping spree, and Spokes Etc. will be hosting an in-store raffle for a children's bicycle.
  • At five stories tall and with more than 15,000 lights, Village at Leesburg's Tree is believed to be the largest animated holiday tree in Northern Virginia.
  • The spectacular tree will perform music and light shows daily, every hour on the hour from noon till 9 pm through New Year’s Day.
  • Village at Leesburg is proud to partner with Toys for Tots, and people are encouraged to bring an unwrapped new toy to be donated when attending any of Village at Leesburg's holiday events.

WHEN: Saturday, November 19, from 3 to 5:30 pm. The Tree-Lighting Musical Grand Finale is at 5:30 pm. Horse-drawn carriage rides until 9:00 pm.
