LEESBURG, VA — A man who was wanted by the Leesburg Police Department was arrested by Virginia State Police after a car accident on Route 267 south of Leesburg. The man, Edward Briscoe, was wanted on larceny charges.
On Thursday afternoon, Virginia State Police responded to a crash near the Shreve Mill Road exit of Route 267. A silver Toyota 4Runner was sideways in the road, authorities said.
When the Virginia State officer arrived, two off-duty officers were helping the driver of the Toyota into a wheelchair on the shoulder of the road. The on-duty police officer immediately recognized the Toyota and its driver from a "Be on the Look Out" alert that was issued earlier by the Leesburg Police Department, according to a news release.
