Fatal Hit-And-Run In Lorton Leads to Arrest of Woodbridge Man
A Woodbridge man was arrested by Fairfax County police in connection with a Feb. 29 hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian in Lorton.

LORTON, VA — A Woodbridge man was arrested in connection with a Feb. 29 hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian on Old Colchester Road in Lorton, according to the Fairfax County Police Department. Guillermo Pedro Vasquez Jr., 34, was arrested Friday and charged with felony hit-and-run. Vasquez was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and released on a $2,500 bond.
Officers responded to the report of a crash involving a pedestrian in the 10000 block of Old Colchester Road on Feb. 29 around 4:35 p.m. The crash resulted in the death of 28-year-old Joseph Lanza of Lorton.
Lanza approached the roadway and was hit by a sedan traveling westbound on Old Colchester Road, the police said. The car did not stop and continued traveling west on Old Colchester Road. Lanza was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.
