Local Businesses Participating in Small Business Saturday

Editor’s note: Small Business Saturday is coming up this weekend on Saturday, Nov. 29. The day encourages people to shop at small businesses on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Support small businesses by shopping local on Saturday, Nov. 29. Several local businesses will be participating in Small Business Saturday by offering special sales, according to Mount Vernon Lee Chamber of Commerce.

Small Business Saturday sales will be offered at:

• Sunflower Florist
• Hilltop Golf Club
• Holly, Woods and Vines
• Back Porch Thrift Shop

“Shopping local keeps your money in your neighborhood,” said Holly Dougherty, executive director of Mount Vernon Lee Chamber of Commerce. “The people who own and work in local businesses live here in our community and when you shop here the money goes back into the community. Schools, non-profit organizations, and youth sports teams all receive support from local businesses. Even the sales tax goes back to our schools, police, fire protection, and roads.”

Local stores are proud of their customer service and wide range of products. In a small store it is easy to find a knowledgeable sales person to help you and direct you to the right item. For example, Sun Sew Vac in Mount Vernon Plaza offers quality appliances not found in big-box stores and provides personal service to each customer.

The greater Mount Vernon, Kingstowne and Lorton area is home to many unique businesses offering holiday specials such as Unwined in the Belle View Shopping Center, Top It Off Outlet in Hollin Hall Shopping Center, Solo Flooring in Lorton, and The UPS Store in Kingstowne.
