Northern Virginia Weather: Marching Onward

STERLING, VA — Doesn't it seem like a long, long time ago when February would surprise you with temperatures in the upper 70s on any given day — or for a stretch of days?

Well, March has behaved much more orderly, as we are expected to see Tuesday, according to the area outlet of the National Weather Service.

Following sporadic showers here and there Monday night, the next morning arrives with clouds and expected highs in the lower 60s.

Here's the latest NWS forecast:

Tonight: Showers likely, mainly after 2am. Cloudy, with a low around 43. Southeast wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Tuesday: A chance of showers before 8am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 61. Light and variable wind becoming northwest 5 to 8 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tuesday Night: A slight chance of rain after 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 37. Northwest wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Wednesday: A slight chance of rain before 9am. Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 45. Northwest wind 13 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 24. North wind 5 to 14 mph.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 46.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 31.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 56.

Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 47.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 70.

Saturday Night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 51. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Sunday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 62. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
