There's a good chance later in the week, according to the National Weather Service. Meanwhile, the rain moves out but the winds don't.
STERLING, VA — The high winds look like they're sticking around through the end of the work week, according to the area outpost of the National Weather Service, and a chance of snow looms Friday.
Wednesday night brings periodic rain and gusts up to nearly 40 mph, after which the storms and clouds are expected to quickly exit.
That's the prelude to a mostly sunny Thursday with temperatures in the nippy upper 40s and, yes, gusts — as high as 34 mph.

Friday presents the snow chance, especially in the morning, as temperatures are expected to reach the upper 40s in the afternoon.

Tonight: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 10pm, then showers likely between 10pm and 1am. Low around 43. Breezy, with a southwest wind 21 to 25 mph becoming west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 38 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 50. Breezy, with a northwest wind 16 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph.
Thursday Night: Increasing clouds, with a low around 33. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable.
Friday: Snow showers likely, mainly before 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 44. Breezy, with a northwest wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to 16 to 21 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
