Northern Virginia Weather: Snow Looms This Weekend

STERLING, VA — A smattering of snow, as you may have heard, is expected this weekend, beginning Saturday night, according to the area branch of the National Weather Service.

Wednesday? Partly sunny with a slight chance of rain and highs near 70.

Alas, temperatures will head south in a hurry as Saturday approaches, and lows for both Saturday and Sunday should be in the 20s.

Some five days out, here are the snow chances:

Saturday night: 50 percent.

Sunday: 40 percent.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 67. West wind 8 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.
