Northern Virginia Weather: Warmer Temperatures With a Caveat
Rain could hold off until Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service, but it's coming, along with one day of temperatures near 80.
STERLING, VA — Things are expected to warm up Tuesday with high near 70 but also will a decent chance of rain in the afternoon and into the night, according to the area arm of the National Weather Service.
Wednesday brings a 70 percent chance of rain with highs near 80 but wind gusts approaching 30 mph into the evening.
Temperatures should cool down a bit later in the week, with a slight chance of rain or slow Friday.

Tuesday: A chance of showers after 1pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 68. Light south wind increasing to 6 to 11 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Tuesday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a low around 60. Southwest wind 10 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Wednesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1pm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. Cloudy, with a high near 78. Southwest wind 14 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
