Northern Virginia Weather: Wind Will End Soon (Really) Amid Extended Sunshine

STERLING, VA — Mostly sunny skies are ahead for the next several days as the high winds finally depart after Thursday night with a weekend warm-up not far behind, according to the local branch of the National Weather Service.

Lows through Friday night are expected to be around freezing or slightly below before giving way to overall mild temperatures Saturday and Sunday.

Presidents Day (Monday) should be sunny with highs in the low 60s.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 28. Northwest wind 11 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 39. Northwest wind 13 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 26. Northwest wind 5 to 13 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 47. West wind around 6 mph.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 33.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 64.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 45.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 65.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 42.

Washington's Birthday: Sunny, with a high near 61.

Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 41.

Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 59.
