Northern Virginia Weather: Windy City No More

STERLING, VA — Here's the absolute best thing to be said for Friday. Not sun, of which there will be plenty. And not the temperature, which is expected to be moderate, according to local office of the National Weather Service.

Nope. We're finally — finally — talking calm winds, topping out at all of 6 mph.

Meanwhile, we're looking at something of a Chamber of Commerce weekend, with loads of sunshine and temperatures in the mid-60s.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 25. Northwest wind 12 to 17 mph becoming light west. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 48. Calm wind becoming southwest around 6 mph in the afternoon.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 34. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 64. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 8 mph in the morning.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 47. West wind 5 to 7 mph.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 64.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 42.
