For anyone who might be interested--it's at Shirley Ginwright's home, 11615 Gunston Road, which is directly across from the Great Marsh Trail, on Saturday July 19, 4:00 to 8:00. Shirley is a very interesting person--President of the Fairfax NAACP, grew up in Montgomery, AL, knew MLK, was in the Selma-to-Montgomery march, helped integrate her school, etc. etc. She is also a "Queen Mother" of Cameroon, and the event is to raise funds for education there. There is no minimum donation (tax deductible) but the invitation (attached) notes that $50 will send a child to school for a year. There will also be African and American food and a performance by African JuJu Dancers. If interested, RSVP to Shirley, preferably by July 16, at 703-470-2137.
