Here's what's up this week in Lorton.

It's the first full week of October. Get out and enjoy the nice fall weather NoVa has been experiencing and check out some cool events going on in the area. You also may want to check out Patch's Halloween 2013 Guide to find pumpkin patches, haunted houses, corn mazes and more in the region.

- On Tuesday, the South County Federation will have its monthly meeting in the South County Secondary School media room at 7:30 p.m. Want to see the agenda?
- On Thursday, don’t miss Jeff Yeager speak at the Lorton Library. Yeager, affectionately referred to by Matt Lauer “The Ultimate Cheapskate’, brings a unique perspective to 21st century living in a down economy. Using his proven aptitude for thrift and environmentalism he instructs audiences to not only survive but thrive using even the most modest financial means.
- Football fan? On Saturday, don’t miss the 4-1 South County Stallions at T.C. Williams High School!
- On Saturday, don’t miss the “Home For Dinner” exhibit at the Workhouse Arts Center. The exhibit is being sponsored by the Lorton Community Action Center and the Workhouse and features artwork from elementary school students in Fairfax County.
- And speaking of the Workhouse, don’t miss the Second Saturday Art Walk!
