$8.4M Custom McLean Home Inspired by Mondrian

Unique Home Filled with Sustainable, First-of-a-Kind Features

Home Perfection Contracting LLC is finishing an $8.4 custom modern home in McLean that has a unique mixture of Piet Mondrian art and Frank Lloyd Wright architecture. The house features a beautiful play between the asymmetrical siding panels and the cantilever structure and pioneers a variety of products and elements. Available for occupancy in early 2021, the house includes a 12 foot-wide, two story helical staircase, yakisugi carbonized wood siding, LEICHT kitchen, geometric pool, pivot doors, and an ellipse shaped skylight.

“We set out to build a home like no other that integrates sustainability and beauty. This special home has stories behind many of the hand-selected and sourced features,” explained Ahmad Khreshi, Founder and President, Home Perfection Contracting. “We’ve been transforming homes for 20 years, but never a house of this scale. I look forward to sharing it with a buyer that appreciates the attention to detail and unique qualities.”

Starting with sustainability, a white oak tree and a maple tree on the property were sawmilled and dried for a year to be reused in the house for hardwood floors, counters and more. The original house’s wood structure was salvaged and repurposed into the great room exposed ceiling structure, with LED strip lights accenting the imperfection and rustic look to tell the story of the house that used to be there.

Among the home’s breathtaking features include the highest grade yakisugi wood siding—commonly known as “Shou Sugi Ban.” The siding is heat treated similar to ancient Japanese techniques, which burns the wood to give it a carbon layer that protects it from insects and decay.

The self-supported, custom-made circular staircase spanning over two levels, made of wood and steel, and weighing more than two elephants is another focal point. Capping the helical staircase is a 12-foot-wide custom ellipse shaped skylight, never seen on such scale in any residence. The house also boasts a Swedish’ Juliet skylight in which the top half opens like a traditional roof window and the bottom half makes it a balcony. This home is the first known to have five in a row, providing an overlook of the pool and top of the surrounding trees from this window balcony.

The modern kitchen has LEICHT cabinetry, the top premium European kitchen brand with plenty of space and LED built-in lights in each drawer. The kitchen has a handcrafted pizza oven that matches the capabilities of restaurant pizza ovens and a handmade gas-powered cooktop.

In another first, the home is the only house on the East Coast to have a Sierra Pacific pivot entry door, a contemporary alternative to traditional doors. Other features of note include:

  • Kohler’s most advanced, voice controlled showering system
  • Custom floating concrete sinks
  • 16 commercial-sized TV wall display panels
  • Modern multi-geometric shape pool and spa
  • 10-foot-wide Acrucraft Blaze10 gas fireplace
